July 8 – 9 – Ninilchik

We left our beach view and headed back north to Ninilchik, where we saw the boats being launched by tractors last week. We stopped by the beach again, but there were no boats going in or out. As we left, we did spy a moose!

We made a few other side stops before landing at Ninilchik View, which is a state camp ground. It was a cute, quiet little area and we grabbed a spot overlooking the village. We ended up staying a couple nights and walked down to a second beach, which is at the mouth of the Kenai river. Lots of american and golden eagles flying around, as well as awesome views of the beach and the village.

The second night we were there, a golden eagle perched itself at the top of a tree about 50 yards from us!

All in all, it was a quiet relaxing interlude from Homer before we went back to Soldotna to meet up with John and Connie and visit with them for a while!
